  • Annual Spring Formal: Every Spring, we toss our scrubs to the side and dress up in our Sunday-best. Our formal is a great way for all our class years to relax and take a break from classes and clinic, enjoy some great food, and break it down on the dance floor!

  • Pre-Dental Impressions Day: We are fortunate to have a dynamic relationship with the Stony Brook Pre-Dental Society. As such, throughout the year we aim to collaborate with them as much as possible and host events that are not only interesting, but informative and will allow them to better understand what dentistry has to offer.

  • First-Ever Stony Brook ASDA Sponsored Dental School Talent Show: The dental school's talent show has been a tradition 20 years running. However, for the first time ever Stony Brook ASDA took the reigns as the lead sponsor of the event. It proved to be a very successful night with over 15 acts and a Sold-Out crowd of students, friends, families, faculty, and staff. Go to our website for a highlight video!

  • Annual Wine Tour: Each Fall we rent a couple party busses and venture out to the North Fork to explore Long Island's prosperous wine country. This year we had more attendees than ever before (72) and had a ton of fun exploring three different vineyards!

  • First-Ever Stony Brook ASDA Blood Drive: In early December our Chapter will be hosting a blood drive at the dental school. This event is being spearheaded by our passionate Philanthropy Chairs and allows students, faculty, staff, and patients who might not normally have access to or the availability to donate blood to do a good deed on society's behalf.

  • Suffolk County Dental Society Installation Dinner: Each January the SCDS invites members of our Chapter to come to their formal Dinner Gala where they install the new leaders and members of their society. It is not only a fun and ceremonious night, but allows our students to see firsthand the importance and impact of staying involved with organized dentistry.

  • New York State Lobby Day: Every February all 5 New York ASDA Chapters travel to our state Capitol in Albany, NY and collaborate with NYSDA and it's different component societies to lobby for legislation that is important and impactful as it relates to our organizations and profession of caring for patients. This is a great event because it allows our students to learn about and experience what the process of 'lobbying' is like. Further, it permits networking between all of our students and current dentists involved in their profession and organizations.

  • Annual Vendor Fair: In May of 2019 we will hold our Annual Vendor Fair which coincides with the dental school's Research Day. This year we have plans and hopes to make it the biggest Vendor Fair yet and bring even more companies and organizations who will have the chance to network and interact with our students, faculty, and staff!

Stony Brook's ASDA Chapter never ceases to amaze me. For being such a small school, we truly are fortunate to have dynamic, inspiring, and motivated leaders who have interests in the endless facets of dentistry! This past year has been a big one for us, as we held our elections earlier than ever before so to increase the amount of time and energy that could be put forth in making it successful. As such, we had many goals going into the year and I am happy to say that we accomplished them, still with time and room to see others come to fruition. Among them, some of our most predominant accomplishments include a TOTAL revitalization and revamping of our Chapter's Newsletter 'The Articulator,' website (, and social media accounts (@StonyBrookASDA). Furthermore, we managed to increase the number of events and general body meetings we held for our members and brought more students to conferences and events than ever before. I feel honored and privileged to have been given the chance to lead such a stellar group of individuals who represent the best of what Stony Brook and organized dentistry has to offer!
